Integrating OMN Product Objectives with the European Trade Indexes Registry (EUTIR)
The document outlines a strategic proposal for integrating the OMN Product framework with the European Trade Indexes Registry (EUTIR), aiming to enhance digital, sustainable, and secure cross-border trade within the EU and globally. It presents EUTIR as a decentralised, interoperable trust infrastructure built on blockchain-based systems like the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), designed to verify and trace trade-related data such as electronic freight information, Digital Product Passports (DPP), and sustainability credentials. By aligning with global standards like LEI/vLEI and MLETR, and connecting with key platforms such as eFTI, CBAM, and EU Customs, EUTIR enables seamless verification, reduces administrative burdens, and supports AI/ML-driven trade facilitation. The document also includes legislative amendment proposals to embed EUTIR into EU regulations, promoting a unified, machine-readable, and future-proof digital trade ecosystem that strengthens competitiveness, green transition, and regulatory coherence across the Single Market.
